Testing Information

A letter was sent home discussing the importance of state mandated testing. Please see the dates listed here and determine when your child is testing. It is very important that your child is at school on time, come early for breakfast and get plenty of sleep the night before. We strive for the best testing environment for our students at Bethune Academy.

  • 3rd Graders have two sessions of FSA Reading Test on Wednesday, April 3rd and Thursday, April 4th.

IMPORTANT UPDATE: Volunteer Application Fee

In order to volunteer and chaperone field trips, you must be an approved volunteer. We depend on our valuable school volunteers at Bethune Academy. Please apply now if you plan to attend any field trips or volunteer on campus.  Application: https://polkschoolsfl.com/getinvolved/

The price for Polk County Public Schools volunteer background checks was scheduled to increase from $25 to $40. However, the Polk County School Board has decided that the fee to cover volunteers’ background checks, as well as their badge and handbook, will remain $25 through the end of the calendar year.

Polk County Public Schools will be using more extensive volunteer background checks as part of our security measures to protect students and staff. The district will incur an additional charge for the statewide and national background checks.

Through the end of 2018, the cost to volunteers will remain $25. We are exploring other funding sources to help offset the cost of background screening for volunteers on an ongoing basis. More information will follow.

Campus Entrance and Security

IMPORTANT:  Bethune Academy has a School Safety Guardian on campus every school day to help keep our campus secure.  All doors and gates will be locked during the school day. If you have strollers or need wheelchair access, you will enter through the N. 10th street gate (there is a sidewalk ramp).

All staff, students and visitors must wear name tags in order to be on campus.
