To support our STEM unit, “Solid As a Rock,” our 4th and 5th grade students are participating in an exciting gem mining experience here on campus. The 4th and 5th grade students are bringing home a letter and brochure for Diamond Del’s Mining Experience. We are asking parents to sign and return the brochure to their child’s science teacher before Thanksgiving. A grant from Duke Energy is paying the cost for this educational experience, so there is no student fee. However, your child may bring money the day of the event to purchase items (Monday, November 30th). Please contact Mrs. Rivera if you have any questions: firstname.lastname@example.org You can also visit Diamond Del’s website for more information.

The children have been enjoying the Fall activities at Bethune Academy. Fall Festival was a success. Our P.T.A. has worked so hard on this project. Thank you to our parents, volunteers and older students from middle and high schools who came to B.A. to help the children celebrate Fall.
The pumpkin decorating was amazing. To help celebrate Spirit Day, some classes decorated scarecrows.
Happy Thanksgiving to all of our families and community members.
Bethune Academy will have their annual Winter Program featuring various music groups on Thursday, December 10, 2015. There will be two performances: 12:30PM and 7:00PM. Parents are invited to attend. For more information, please contact the school office or Mrs. Anhalt.
United States Veterans are very important to Bethune Academy. Students and staff will not be at school on Wednesday, November 11, 2015 as we will be observing this federal holiday.
Celebration: We would like to celebrate the service of all U.S. military veterans on Tuesday, November 10th. The celebration will begin at 8:00AM in the courtyard. We will be honoring local veterans at this event and parents are welcome to attend.
Parents of Car Riders: Thank you for following our dismissal procedures. We have asked parents to pick up their children from the car rider area only. Car riders may not be checked out from the office for dismissal and they may not walk away from the school until their car rider number is called. This helps our staff ensure the safety of our children.
We are very proud of the students for memorizing their car rider number. This procedure is working very well. If you need a car rider number issued or replaced, please see the office staff.
- Car Riders must be dropped off between 7:30 – 7:55 AM. They must be picked up by 3:20PM.
- Please do not drop children off after the tardy bell rings at 8:00. A parent must walk tardy students to the Front Office for a tardy slip.
- All gates will be locked in the morning and remain locked for the remainder of the school day. All parents and visitors must check in at The Front Office when entering the campus.
- All visitors must present a current driver’s license or Florida Identification Card in order to request permission to enter campus. A Visitor badge is required on campus at all times.
- Early Dismissal Days: Car riders must be picked up by 12:50PM at the latest.
IMPORTANT DEADLINE: Please sign up to be a volunteer. Only an approved volunteer may attend field trips as a chaperone. Visit the Volunteer website for more information. Must be completed before February 1st of each school year.
