Our Scholastic Book Fair is a reading event that brings kids the books they want to read. We’ll receive a wonderful selection of engaging and affordable books for every reading level, and all purchases benefit our school! We appreciate your support.

For more information and learn how to set up an eWallet account for your child click here.

Reading for pleasure inside and outside of school has real and long-lasting benefits. Please come to our book fair and help shape your child’s reading habits.  Watch this video!

One week only! September 24th – 28th:

  • Monday – Thursday 7:30 – 3:00
  • Friday 7:30 – 12:00

See you at the book fair!

Volunteers and Chaperones

In order to volunteer and chaperone field trips, you must be an approved volunteer. We depend on our valuable school volunteers at Bethune Academy. Please apply now if you plan to attend any field trips or volunteer on campus.

Starting Nov. 1, 2018, the price for Polk County Public Schools volunteer background checks will increase from $25 to $40.

To coincide with the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School Public Safety Act, we’re tightening security measures to protect our students, faculty and staff. The increased price for background checks will include: a national background check, Social Security number verification, address verification, multiple name/alias check and terror watch list check.

Campus Entrance and Security

IMPORTANT:  Bethune Academy has a School Safety Guardian on campus every school day to help keep our campus secure.  All doors and gates will be locked during the school day. In order to be on campus, all visitors must check in with the office staff. In order to enter the school office, you will need to push the button at the door and wait for the door to be unlocked. If you are approaching from N. 10th street, you will need to push the button at the gate for entrance. If you have strollers or need wheelchair access, you will enter through the N. 10th street gate (there is a sidewalk ramp).

All staff, students and visitors must wear name tags in order to be on campus.

Thank you for your cooperation.

B.A. Open House

Thursday, October 4, 2018 6:00PM – 7:00PM

Make sure you visit your child’s homeroom class and sign in. Then you may visit other classrooms. This will be an opportunity for you to see what the students have been working on at Bethune Academy. We’re looking forward to seeing you.

Backpacks and School Safety

Polk County Public Schools will NOT be imposing a district-wide ban on backpacks and lunchboxes, and will NOT be requiring clear backpacks or lunchboxes for the 2018-19 school year.
We hope this information will be helpful for families as you shop for school supplies and prepare for the new school year.
Please know that we will continue to work with our law enforcement partners to keep our campuses safe. For more information on our new School Safety Guardian program, please visit: https://tinyurl.com/yc6pr3qw
